FAQs

  • Doulas provide parents with emotional, informational, physical, and social support from the prenatal stage all the way through at least 6 weeks postpartum. Doulas support mothers regardless of their birth goals. As birth professionals, doulas provide objective service to the mamas they serve and educate about the risks and benefits of childbirth birth interventions.

  • Family life educators serve families across the lifespan and use research-based strategies to promote resilience. The three pillars of family life education are prevention, strength-based, and empowerment. Family life education seeks to equip and empower families to make informed decisions that support healthy lifestyles.

  • Doulas do not replace father or partner support. Instead, they provide guidance to the birth partner about ways to help mama through pregnancy, birth, & postpartum. Doulas encourage communication and connection between the birthing mother and her partner. To help partners understand the birthing person’s experience, they educate about the physiology and process of birth.

  • Continuity of care, in the context of doula work, is the idea that doulas will provide continuous care throughout fertility, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. This is to provide women with one point of contact with a person she connects with and trusts to objectively support her goals and beliefs about her transition into parenthood.

  • Unfortunately, most insurance companies do not cover doula services. However, I am able to accept FSA/HSA and offer flexible payment plans.
